Land Use & Property Attorney
Decades of experience in real estate, land use, and complex property matters, with a focus on detailed legal analysis and strategic case development.
Edward Ablard is an experienced attorney whose work spans land use, zoning, real estate, and property-related disputes. His practice is centered on matters that require careful legal analysis, including cases involving boundary conflicts, easement rights, and incomplete or disputed land records. With a background in both private practice and public advocacy, Edward brings a structured and detail-driven approach to resolving complex land use issues.
I began my legal career in Alexandria, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., with a focus on land use and development. Edward received the McLean Citizen of the Year Award. He represented clients in real estate, banking, and related matters. He later became a partner at a major law firm, earning the highest Martindale-Hubbell “AV” distinction for professional excellence.
He went on to establish his own practice, focusing on real estate transactions, estate planning, and property-related legal services, while also taking on matters involving land use and development.
During law school, he worked with a firm involved in the landmark 1967 U.S. Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia (SCOTUS), a decision recognized as a landmark in civil rights law.
Edward’s experience extends beyond traditional legal practice into planning and development. As President of the McLean Planning Committee, he played a key role in launching redevelopment efforts for the McLean Central Business District in Fairfax County. His work reflects a deep understanding of how land use decisions impact communities, property rights, and long-term development.
Edward has been actively involved in environmental and land use advocacy, including litigation addressing regulatory and community impact issues. His efforts contributed to legal action surrounding environmental policy and industrial development, supported by organizations such as the NAACP and the Sierra Club.
